After a short wait, the fingernail artist returned, holding what appeared to be something like a white-out pen that had been emptied of white-out, and filled with henna and held together with electrical tape.
Haby volunteered to go first, and she opted for fingernail art AND a design on her palm. She got her nails done first.
The little pen thing he used had a really fine tip, so he could make delicate designs. I was surprised, because I thought we would be getting our nails colored solid, just totally filled in with henna, and I didn't expect designs. It was cool!
Here's the artist at work.

And here is a nice close up of the henna action.

Then Habyly was ready to get her palm ornamented with henna.

Here's a nice photo of the artist. I wish I had his name!

After letting us sit for a while, it was time to rinse off Haby's hand-henna. Although the stain was brown/ dark orange, the water turned blue! He also gave her hand a really good massage.

Haby (who has been told she looks like Whoopi Goldberg-- can you see it?) was amused with the excessive hand washing and massaging...

The rinsing and massaging went on for quite some time...
